    Autograph manuscript. Primarily accounts for labor and services, food, clothing and other household expenses with Richard Sorrel, William Beck, George Dudley, the estates of Peter Jefferson, Bathurst Shelton, Dabney Carr and John Wayles, members of the Jefferson family and others. Volume also includes two pages of "Personal stock for Lands and slaves sold" and "By Lands and slaves Bought" which mention enslaved persons Myrtilla, Sandy, Ursula, George, Bagwell, and a second George. These entries are copies, with some variations, of account balances titled "Personal estate in account" and "with Real estate" in Jefferson's account and fee book, 1767-1794 (HM 836). (96 pages)

    Memoranda book

    Manuscripts

    Autograph notes and memoranda written on blank leaves of the Virginia Almanack for 1775. Includes legal and political notes and cash accounts that Jefferson kept in 1775 when he attended Second and Third Virginia Conventions in Richmond and traveled to Philadelphia to attend the Second Continental Congress. Also present is an account of the murder of the family of Mingo leader Logan in 1774, later published in Notes on the State of Virginia. (118 pages)

    Daybook of Étienne Lemaire market accounts

    Household accounts for the White House. Bulk in hand of Lemaire; monthly balances in hand of Jefferson. The ledger containing Lemaire's accounts of the shopping done for Jefferson's President's House (White House) between 1806 and 1809, including wine and provisions purchased for formal occasions. Jefferson signed the accounts monthly. Lemaire's daily accounts start in 1806—the 1805 date is for totals brought forward by Jefferson on the first page. (224 pages)

    Jabez Huntington account book

    Manuscripts

    This account book is attributed to Jabez Huntington, a merchant who supplied American and French ships between 1779 and 1781. The document records transactions from Huntington's store and includes the names of privateer and prize vessels, seized goods, captains and other naval personnel, and payments for goods supplied to the Americans and French. Some of the people mentioned in the memorandum book include Captain Frederick Calkins, Colonel Christopher Leffingwell, Captain John Deshon, and British Loyalist Thomas Fanning. The volume contains loose pages, receipts, and bills.
