James De Barth Shorb is sitting next to the steps to the porch. An older woman, probably his wife, is sitting on the other side of the steps, between a young daughter and son (both look like they're between seven and twelve). Two young woman, probably also daughters, are on the steps, and one child of indeterminate sex, around four to six, is on the steps between them.
