    A three-quarters length studio portrait of Mexican General Ignacio Mejia with his head turned slightly to the right. Mejia is wearing a formal military uniform, with heavy embroidery on the front of his coat and on his cuffs and collars. He has a white sash across his chest, and is holding a heavily decorated hat in the crook of his right arm. Mejia is clean-shaven, and resting his left hand on his left hip. He has medals attached to his breast, one hanging around his neck, and another attached to the sash near his waist.

    A full-length seated studio portrait of a young African American boy identified only as "Noah". Noah is sitting on a richly upholstered chair, leaning his left elbow on a cloth-draped table. He is wearing a white, partially open shirt, pants that have patches sewn on, a waist length cape with a hood, and no shoes. His left hand is resting against his cheek, and his right hand is holding the bowl of a long pipe, the stem of which is in between his lips.

    A full-length studio portrait of an unidentified African American Union soldier from the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned slightly to the right. The soldier has a holster at his left hip, is holding a pistol in his right hand by his thigh, and is wearing gloves and a cap. The chevrons in his uniform sleeves seem to indicate that is is a First Sergeant. A stamp on the verso reads "Lochman & Bretz, artists, Newville, Cumberland Co., Pa. ; Negatives preserved"

    A full-length studio portrait of Union Captain Jacob F. Force (b. 1842) of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, with his body turned slightly to the right. Force is quite young, clean-shaven, and resting his left forearm on a pedestal, next to an urn. "Jones & Bro., photographers, 604 Arch Street, Philad'a." is printed in black on the verso.

    A three-quarters length seated studio portrait of Union First Lieutenant Emery (sometimes spelled Emory) Fisher of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, with his body turned slightly to the left. Fisher is resting his right forearm on a cloth-draped side table and his left hand on his left thigh. He has a neatly trimmed mustache and a wide goatee that reaches the bottom of his collar. "Geo. Stotler's Old Portrait Gallery, Johnstown, Pa." is stamped in black on the verso.

    A three-quarters length seated studio portrait of Union Second Lieutenant William H. Lyman of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned very slightly to the left. Lyman is resting his right arm on a side table, and his left hand in his lap. He has bushy muttonchops, but is otherwise clean-shaven. "B.F. Evans, No. 14 Main Street, Norfolk, Va." is stamped in black on the verso. There is a green three cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington attached to the verso upside down.
