This 8-page brochure is an advertisement for a program offered by Harvard Summer School. In it are listed the courses offered, a description of the art workshop, the staff, facilities, social life, fees and credits, and an address to write for further information. Accompanying this brochure is a business reply postcard to subscribe to the Official Register of Harvard University. Also accompanying this leaflet is a mailing envelope addressed to "Miss Mabel Spofford, Supervisor of Drawing, Public Schools, Gloucester, Mass."

Two promotional letters, dated September 1935 and October 1935, respectively, which advertise the Stover School Art Service, Birmingham, Michigan. Both are addressed to Miss Mabel Spofford, signed by Frances L. Stover, and are printed on Stover School Art Service letterhead. These form letters (4 unnumbered, typescript pages each) advertise pre-planned and pre-organized art projects made available for art teachers by the Service. A sample project, probably completed by Mabel Spofford, is laid into each letter. Title supplied by cataloger.

Two envelopes of "proof sheets" of photographed examples of student art work

Two envelopes of art reproductions ("proof sheets") of photographed examples of student art work. The "proof sheets" were mailed from James Parton Haney to Mabel Spofford. Included are images of signs, magazine covers, posters, advertisements, book covers, textiles and other items. Many of the individual art examples are signed by their creators, and most are dated between 1919 and 1921.

One set of art appreciation posters created by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 1926. The set of 55 posters is housed within 5 large envelopes; there are 23 different posters, with duplicate copies of 9 of the 23. All of the posters contain black and white reproductions of photographs. Accompanying the posters within the first folder is a large piece of brown wrapping paper on which is written in ms.: "Mabel Spofford; from Boston Museum of Fine Arts, received April 7. 1956 art appreciation posters." The posters vary in size, but all are large. What follows is a listing of the contents of each envelope; the title at the top of the poster has been transcribed. Nine books entitled New Art Education, published by Prang Company Publishers, "A Division of The American Crayon Company, Sandusky, Ohio", copyright 1944, 1945 and 1947. The books are numbered, 1-9; laid into each is a second book, an accompanying teacher guide, entitled Teachers Reference and Course of Study, published in 1947. (One book is intended for the teacher and one for the student.) Accompanying these nine sets are three teacher reference guides titled Teachers Reference and Course of Study. The first is labeled "A", "to accompany New Art Education Books I, II, III"; the second is labeled B, and the third C, to accompany Books 4, 5, 6 and 7, 8, 9 respectively. These books contain ideas, instructions and projects for a wide variety of arts and crafts projects for schoolchildren. All nine sets, and the Teachers Reference and Course of Study vols. A-C, are illustrated typically in black and white. Each of the nine New Art Education books and each of the Teachers Reference books have "Mabel Spofford" written in ms., in ink, on the front cover, and some on the title page. Laid into Book I of New Art Education are two TLSs on Stover School Art Service (of Birmingham, Michigan) letterhead, which are promotional and advertising solicitations for art projects and supplies. One letter is dated Jan. 18, 1933, the other Sept. 24, 1935; each is addressed to Miss Mabel Spofford , Supv. of Drawing, Gloucester, Mass. Within each letter are a few sample art projects for examination.
