One book entitled Industrial Art Text Books: A Graded Course in Art in its Relation to Industry, by Bonnie E. Snow and Hugo B. Froehlich, published by Laidlaw Brothers, Chicago and New York, copyright 1924. This is a revised edition of Part Six from an eight part set. This book is 64 pages in length, and contains both color and black and white illustrations. The topics addressed in this volume include: color and design; drawing and design; lettering and design; art in dress; art in the home; and art in handwork. The front and back covers are printed with a vertically striped design. The inside of the front cover and the inside of the back cover are decorated with geometric patterns. Each chapter begins with introductory text and an explanation of each of the types of projects contained within it. The rest of each chapter suggests projects to create which emphasize the topic for that chapter. The final page of the book suggests tests that art teachers can assign in order to evaluate the progress of their students. "J.E. Cargill" and "3.00" (price) are written in ms. at the top of the front cover. "J. Evelyn Cargill" is written in ms. at the top of the title page.

Barnes Company, Chicago and New York, ca. 1920. This brochure is 12 numbered pages in length, and is illustrated with reproductions of sample pages from the text books to which they refer. Each page of the brochure gives a brief overview of the sections within the series: Color and Design; Costume Design; Domestic Art; Interior Decoration; Constructive Design; Commercial Design; Object Drawing and Nature Drawing.

Eight art instruction books entitled Industrial and Applied Art Books, published by Atkinson Mentzer & Company, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas, [ca. 1920]. All are "Edited by Elmer E. Bush and Florence Reid Bush". The books are numbered 1st through 8th, and average 48 pages in length. All are primarily illustrated, with some accompanying text for the exercises and activities. Most illustrations are black and white, with a few in color. Each volume is bound in a purple and black decorated paper cover. The 5th, 7th, and 8th volumes are marked "Mabel Spofford" in ms., in ink, at the head of the front cover.

Seven books entitled Industrial and Applied Art Books, published by Mentzer Bush & Co., New York, Chicago, and Dallas, copyright 1926. Edited by Walter Scott Perry, Florence H. Fitch, Walter Sargent, and Frederick G. Bonser. Published in eight parts, book No. 2 is lacking from this set. Each of the seven books are 48 pages in length, and contain a wide variety of art projects for students. The projects range from simple coloring exercises (beginning with book 1) and progress to more sophisticated projects such as printing and book binding (in book 8). All of the books contain black and white and color illustrations. Each exercise or lesson is comprised of a sample or template, instructional text for the student, and additional instructional text for the teacher. The project template can be cut out of the book for use; a few have been cut out but laid in place. Some of the projects included within these books are: coloring, lettering, drawing, weaving, patterns, design, clay work, basketry, sewing, bookbinding and art appreciation. All of the covers are identical to each other (except the issue number); the covers are in black and orange, with the title framed by tall trees on either side. The insides of the front covers, as well as both sides of the back covers, are decorated in black and white decorative patterns. Each of the seven books have an embossed stamp "S" (Mabel Spofford) at the top of each front cover.

Each is approximately 48 pages in length, and can be used independently of one another, although they do have similar sections, such as: picture study, illustrative sketching, modeling and sculpture, lettering, decorative design, famous buildings, and book making.

Six drawing books entitled American Text-Books of Art Education, Revised Edition, Nos. 5, 7, 7, 9, 10, 14, published by L. Prang & Co., Boston, copyright 1879. These drawing books are each 20 pages in length and include numbered lessons, each with instructional text, lithograph illustrations, and space for copying. The front cover is decoratively bordered, the title centered. The inside of the front covers contain a "Special Notice to Teachers", which provides instructional information for using this series. On each of the back covers is a publisher's advertisement for "A System of Industrial and Artistic Drawing for Public Schools (Revised Edition)." The insides of the back covers of Books 7, 9, 10 and 14 are blank. The insides of the back covers of the remaining books contain publisher's advertisements. The books range in complexity from relatively simple to more complex; and the same range exists within each of the books. The exercises range from simple shapes and angles (in Book No. 5) to more complex images, such as scenes and views which include projection and perspective (in Book 14). Book No. 5 appears to focus on the creation of shapes and patterns based on geometric forms; Book 7 (both copies) focuses on tracing and transferring; Book 8 emphasizes freehand drawing from models (objects and plant life); Book 9 focuses on rectangular forms and historic styles in design; Book 10 emphasizes simple shapes and angles, ornamental designs and borders; and Book 14 focuses on projection and perspective. Book 14 is lacking the first 2 leaves, therefore the first 4 exercises are missing. Some of the images have been copied by previous owners, and some of the books contain sheets with original artwork laid in. "David Anderson" is written in ms. on the front cover of Book No. 7 (one of the 2 copies). Book No. 5 is smaller than the other books in the series. The dimensions provided are for Books Nos. 7-14.
